Q: Is it normal to feel anxious or unsure about beginning therapy?
Absolutely, change takes courage. It can be difficult for anyone to ask for help when things gets tough. It’s important to remember that being able to ask for support when you need it is not a sign of weakness but strength.
Q. How quickly will I see results?
People are complex and complicated beings and it may take some time. In some cases change can come quickly and in others it happens gradually over time.
Q. How long will the therapy last?
There is no set amount of time. I recommend that clients start with regular weekly appointments so that we can explore the scope of our work together and determine how best to approach your goals. As the sessions progress, we can discuss the amount of time that seems appropriate and comfortable for you moving forward.
Q. Is therapy confidential?
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychotherapist. Information is not disclosed without written permission. However, there are number of exceptions to this rule. Exceptions include:
